Privacy Policy
Effective date: January 1, 2025 · Last updated: June 20, 2026
Obert ("we", "us", or "our") is a personal watch-logging app with optional social
and AI features. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it,
and your rights regarding that information.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google we receive
a unique user identifier and, if you permit it, your email address. We never receive your
Apple or Google password.
- Profile information. A username, plus any optional display name,
avatar, bio, location text, wrist size, and calendar preferences you choose to add.
- Watch collection. Brand, model, reference number, photos, and other
details you enter about watches you own or wish to own. Private fields such as serial
number, purchase price, current value, warranty details, and private notes are visible
only to you and are never shown to other users.
- Wear logs. Dates and times you log wearing a watch, plus optional
notes, tags, and a visibility setting (private, followers, or public).
- Photos and videos. Images and clips you upload for watch
identification, to attach to a wear entry, or to add to a watch's gallery. These are
stored on our servers and used to power features such as AI recognition.
- Social activity. Who you follow, your follow requests, likes, and
any users you block, so we can build your feed and enforce your privacy choices.
- Subscription status. If you purchase a subscription, we receive your
subscription tier and renewal/expiry status from the Apple App Store to unlock paid
features. We do not collect or store your payment card details — all billing is handled
by Apple.
- Usage data. Feature-usage events (for example, logging a wear or
confirming a recognition) recorded in association with your account to help us improve
the app. Free-text content such as captions, notes, bios, and locations is removed before
these events are stored.
- Device information. App version, operating-system version, and — if
you enable notifications — a device identifier and time zone used to schedule reminders.
Crash and performance diagnostics are collected without identifying you.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the Obert service — storing and displaying your collection and wear
history.
- To power AI-assisted watch recognition when you photograph a watch, and to improve
the accuracy of that recognition over time.
- To provide social and community features such as profiles, following, and the feed,
according to the visibility settings you choose.
- To manage subscriptions and apply recognition usage limits.
- To send daily log reminders and weekly recap notifications (only if you opt in).
- To improve the app through aggregated, anonymised analytics.
- To enforce our Terms of Service, moderate content, and prevent abuse.
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only as
necessary to operate the service:
- Infrastructure providers. Cloud hosting and storage providers that
process data on our behalf under confidentiality agreements.
- AI providers. Watch photos are sent to third-party vision AI
services for recognition. These providers are prohibited from retaining your images
for their own purposes.
- Payments. Subscription purchases and renewals are processed by the
Apple App Store under Apple's own terms; we receive only your subscription status, not
your payment details.
- Legal obligations. We may disclose information if required by
law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users.
Content you mark as public or followers-only (wear
posts, profile, collection entries) is visible to other Obert users according to those
settings. You can change the visibility of your content at any time.
4. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account,
your profile, wear logs, posts, social activity, and other personal data are permanently
deleted within 30 days. Uploaded watch images may be retained in anonymised form, no longer
associated with you, to improve the service. Content removed for violating our Terms is
deleted entirely. Aggregated, anonymised analytics may be retained indefinitely.
5. Security
All data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Passwords are never stored — authentication
is handled exclusively through Apple Sign-In and Google Sign-In. We use industry-standard
security practices, but no system is completely immune to breach.
6. Children's Privacy
Obert is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a
child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete
it. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use Obert only with
the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian.
7. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any
time by deleting your account in the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account) or by
contacting us. For users in the European Economic Area, UK, or California, additional
rights may apply under GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes
by posting a notice in the app. Your continued use of Obert after a change constitutes
acceptance of the updated policy.

Terms of Service
Effective date: January 1, 2025 · Last updated: June 20, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Obert mobile application
and related services (collectively the "Service") operated by Obert ("we", "us").
By using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. Obert is distributed through
the Apple App Store, and your use of the iOS app is also subject to Apple's standard
Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) and the App Store Terms of Service;
where they apply, those Apple terms govern your relationship with Apple as the app's
distributor.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction)
to use Obert. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service
only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. By using the Service
you represent that you meet these requirements.
2. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all
activities that occur under it. You agree to notify us immediately if you suspect
unauthorised access. We are not liable for loss or damage arising from your failure to
protect your credentials.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Upload content that is defamatory, obscene, hateful, or infringes third-party
intellectual property rights.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or bulk-download data from the Service
without our written permission.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any
person or entity.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users, or post content intended to do so.
The Service includes report and block controls so you can flag content or hide other
users. We may review reported content and, at our discretion, remove content or suspend
or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. User Content
You retain ownership of photos, watch details, and other content you upload
("User Content"). By uploading User Content you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive,
royalty-free licence to store, process, and display it as necessary to provide the
Service, and to retain watch images in anonymised form, no longer associated with you,
to develop and improve our recognition models. You represent that you have the rights
necessary to grant this licence.
Content you mark as public may be seen by other users and used in
aggregated, anonymised product features (e.g., community wear statistics). You can
change the visibility of your content to private at any time.
5. AI Recognition
Obert offers AI-assisted watch recognition as a convenience feature. Recognition
results are probabilistic and may be inaccurate. We do not warrant the accuracy,
completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose of recognition results, and we do not
guarantee that the Service will achieve any particular outcome. You are solely responsible
for verifying and correcting any information added to your collection. Cloud-based
recognition is metered and subject to monthly usage limits that depend on your subscription
tier and to reasonable fair-use safeguards.
6. Subscriptions and Billing
Obert includes a free tier and optional auto-renewing subscriptions (such as our
Enthusiast and Collector plans) that increase your monthly cloud-recognition limits and
unlock additional features. Subscriptions are purchased through, billed by, and
automatically renew via your Apple App Store account.
Your subscription renews automatically at the then-current price unless you turn off
auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or
cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store account settings; cancellation
takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Payments, refunds, and renewals
are handled by Apple in accordance with the App Store terms, and we do not process or
store your payment details. Free-tier limits, plan features, and pricing may change with
reasonable notice.
7. Intellectual Property
The Obert app, its design, and all content created by us are our intellectual
property and are protected by copyright and other applicable laws. You may not reproduce,
distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.
8. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party services (Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, AI
providers, cloud storage, and the Apple App Store for billing). Your use of these
integrations is subject to those providers' own terms and privacy policies. We are not
responsible for third-party services.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND,
EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE
UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT,
INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO
YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL
LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM,
OR USD $10, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms or
for any other reason with reasonable notice. You may delete your account at any time from
Profile → Settings → Delete account. Upon termination, your right to use the Service
ceases immediately.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which we operate, without
regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that
jurisdiction.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes
through the app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

How can we help?
Questions about recognition, your collection, subscriptions, sign-in, or your
account? Start with the common questions below — or reach us directly and we'll
get back to you, usually within a couple of days.
Recognition didn't identify my watch, or picked the wrong one
On-device recognition matches against the watches already in your collection,
so add the piece first and recognition gets sharper. For a clean match, fill the
frame with the dial in good, even light and avoid heavy glare or motion blur.
If it still misses, you can always pick the watch from your collection or log
the wear by hand — and you can correct any recognition so the result is exactly
what you wore.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Enthusiast and Collector subscriptions are billed by Apple through your Apple ID,
not by Obert. To view, change, or cancel a plan, open the iOS
Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions —
or go to App Store → your profile → Subscriptions.
Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep your plan's benefits until the end of
the current billing period. We don't see or store your payment details.
I'm not seeing a subscription I already paid for
Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the purchase, then open
the paywall in the app and tap Restore Purchases. Entitlements can
take a moment to sync after a renewal or a fresh install.
If it still doesn't appear, email us and include the date of purchase — we'll sort
it out.
I can't sign in with Apple or Google
Confirm you have a network connection and you're using the same Apple or Google
account you originally signed up with. If sign-in stalls, fully quit and reopen the
app, then try again.
Obert never sees your Apple or Google password — sign-in is handled entirely by
those providers.
What happens to my photos and data?
Matching against your own collection runs on your iPhone, and nothing you log is
public unless you choose to share it. Private fields — serial number, purchase price,
value, notes — are only ever visible to you.
For the full picture, read our Privacy Policy.
Does Obert work offline?
Your collection and wear history are always available without a connection. On the
Enthusiast plan and above you can also log wears offline; they sync automatically the
next time you're online.
- Your device model (e.g. iPhone 15 Pro) and iOS version.
- The Obert app version (Profile → Settings → About).
- What you expected to happen, and what happened instead.
- Whether it happens every time or only sometimes — and the steps to reproduce it.
Delete your account
You can permanently delete your account and personal data anytime from the app:
Profile → Settings → Delete account. Your profile, wear logs, posts,
and social activity are removed within 30 days, as described in our
Privacy Policy.
Can't access the app? Email us from the address on your account and we'll process the
request for you.
